Unreal Tournament 3 (Epic Games, Midway)…
Nach der Top News mit der Ankündigung des baldigen Releases der Demo, gibt es jetzt eine schlechte Nachricht. Zoltan hat die Arbeiten am Mod Metaball 2 eingestellt! Leider war es ihm nicht gelungen genügend.Helfer zu finden und alleine ist es ihm momentan zuviel daran weiter zu arbeiten. 
Zum Thema UT3 Demo hat sich Mark Rein jetzt auch im offiziellen Epic Forum zu Wort gemeldet:
Just wanted to give you a heads’ up that we’re getting pretty close to releasing the Unreal Tournament 3 Beta Demo for Windows. The Beta Demo will allow instant action play against bots as well as online multiplayer. The purpose of the Beta Demo is to test the game on a large variety of hardware configurations and get gameplay feedback from the community. The development team feels they’re pretty close to being ready to release this so it could come out this week but for safety sake I’d say it should be out within two weeks.

Once upon a time someone on one of our forums asked me if I’d tell him if one of the UT demos was within two weeks and I said “it is more than two weeks away“. Somebody misread that and decided I said it was two weeks away – which I didn’t because at the time we had no idea when it would be out. So me saying “two weeks” became some sort of urban legend I will probably never live down.
However in this case I *expect* the demo will be out within two weeks. Could be as early as this week but you never know what new bug will turn up that delays it a few more days but two weeks, in this case, feels pretty safe to us.

Auf B1tchkillas UnrealTounament 3 Blog, der ab sofort primär im Audio Format erscheinen soll, gibt es den BeyondUnreal.com Chat mit Epic Games, von letzter Woche, auf Deutsch.
Laut einer Meldung bei GameStar.de wird es (zunächst) aufjedenfall keine Spiele zwischen PC und PS3-Spielern geben.
Vice President Mark Rein begründet diese Entscheidung damit, dass neue Inhalte für das Spiel erst erscheinen könnten, sobald beide Versionen reibungslos und völlig synchron liefen. Da es für die PlayStation 3 zeitaufwändiger und schwieriger sei, neue Inhalte zu zertifizieren, würde dies die Weiterentwicklung des Spiels auf dem PC ausbremsen.

IGN.com hat ein weiteres Preview zu Unreal Tournament veröffentlicht. Es geht u.a. um den noch immer für November angestrebten Veröffentlichungstermin für UT3 (PC, als auch PS3). In der Playstation 3 – Variante, wird man wohl auf ein paar Maps verzichten müssen (aufgrund der “limitierten” Hardware wäre ein geschmeidiges Spielen nicht möglich). Mods werden allerdings auch für die PS3-Variante möglich sein, inkl. der Verkauf über das Playstation Network:
Mark Rein said that they are shooting for a November release and did say that the PS3 version would have “most” of the content that would be found in its PC brother. He said that there would be a couple of maps that would be left out of the PS3 version simply because the system didn’t have the resources to produce a smooth gameplay experience. But rest assured, the classic Unreal Tournament modding could still be performed and uploaded to your friends. Rein even told us that there were plans to allow for players to release mods for sale on the Playstation Network and that the most popular mods and maps would be compiled and sold in an updated Unreal Tournament 3 package later down the line. We’ll have much more on Unreal Tournament 3 as its holiday release date draws closer.
Mit “Black Sierra” ist ein neuer Single-Player Mod für Unreal Tournament 3 angekündigt worden. Angesiedelt ist der Mod im Horror Genre, gespielt wird im Kooperationsmodus.
High in the mountains of Black Sierra, recent mining activities have driven beasts of unknown origin from their underground lairs in fear. Unleashed upon the stocks of the secluded towns throughout the mountain, the creatures who have no reason to fear man spreads through the towns in a feeding frenzy. A few weeks later with various reports of missing persons, a team of Search and Rescue workers are sent up in a rescue effort, during a violent tranmission ending from the Search and Rescue workers, the county issues the mountain under unknown hostile attack. Your squad, a highly trained police force from the state is sent up to the top of the mountain to rescue all personnel and eliminate the threat. After an encounter between your squad and the beasts, objectives are re-issued and it becomes your priorities to make it down the mountain alive. Reversing the usual process of making you start from the beginning and work your way to the end, Black Sierra sends you from the top to the bottom as you are sent from town to town to find any means of escaping the horrors alive.
