Nun gibt es die Fortsetzung des Make Something Unreal Contest, jetzt natürlich für UT3. Dieses mal in Zusammenarbeit von Epic und Intel. Und das ganze lohnt sich auch wieder für Modentwickler, da es Preise im Gesamtwert von $1,000,000 (darunter z.B. eine Lizenz der Unreal Engine 3) gibt!

Nach dem ganzen hin und her gestern. Jetzt ist der UT3 Patch v1.2 (sowohl für den PC als auch den Linux dedicated Server) offiziel verfügbar:

Gestern teilte  Jeff Morris folgendes der UT3-Mailingliste mit:

It’s done, beta 4 with a text file change. We’re giving Ryan a chance to get the Linux DS done for a simultaneous release, and Midway QA time to prep their customer service people.

This version is substantially the same as the last, with some important fixes: The scavenger exploit, webadmin refresh issues and a few other tweaks.

Epics führende Köpfe gaben mal wieder Interviews.

Cliff Bleszinski gab Antworten auf Stephen Totilos Fragen im MTV’s Multiplayer Blog.

Es wird weiter fleissig am zweiten UT3 Patch gearbeitet. Jetzt gab für die UT3-MailingListe einen kleinen Updatepatch:

This version is substantially the same as the last, with two important fixes: Server compatability with v1.1 clients and a fix for the TCPLink crash.

Ab sofort beginnt für den zweiten UT3 Patch die Testphase! Da es sich aber um einen BETA Patch handelt hat ihn Jeff Morris wie immer nur für die UT3-MailingListe freigegeben. Den 1. Teil des Changelog gab es ja schon vor kurzem hier, den zweiten Teil findet ihr unter “den ganzen Beitrag lesen”:

DeathBooger von BeyondUnreal hat von Epic eine email zum Vorgehen bei Interesse an der Linux bzw. Mac Version erhalten. Demnach müssen Interessierte eine leere email an ut3-subscribe@icculus.org senden!

Zum Thema UT3 Demo hat sich Mark Rein jetzt auch im offiziellen Epic Forum zu Wort gemeldet:

Just wanted to give you a heads’ up that we’re getting pretty close to releasing the Unreal Tournament 3 Beta Demo for Windows. The Beta Demo will allow instant action play against bots as well as online multiplayer. The purpose of the Beta Demo is to test the game on a large variety of hardware configurations and get gameplay feedback from the community. The development team feels they’re pretty close to being ready to release this so it could come out this week but for safety sake I’d say it should be out within two weeks.

Und:

Once upon a time someone on one of our forums asked me if I’d tell him if one of the UT demos was within two weeks and I said “it is more than two weeks away“. Somebody misread that and decided I said it was two weeks away – which I didn’t because at the time we had no idea when it would be out. So me saying “two weeks” became some sort of urban legend I will probably never live down.

However in this case I *expect* the demo will be out within two weeks. Could be as early as this week but you never know what new bug will turn up that delays it a few more days but two weeks, in this case, feels pretty safe to us.
